WEEK 1 You are at home and this is an opportunity to learn a few survival skills!!!! I have given you a link below. You can learn to make yourself a healthy salad or a snack. Enjoy watching this video and I will give you a task to do thereafter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gnu75rx2DoY Your fun task to do Make a healthy salad/sandwich. Use multiple ingredients. Draw a table. Write down all the ingredients used in the first column.  Mention whether the ingrediant is from a plant source or an animal source in the second column.  In the third column write down the nutrients obtained from this ingredient and say how it helps your body. Take a picture of yourself at work and paste it. You could do this on an A4 size paper. WEEK 2 We have all heard that we need to strengthen our immune system in order to be able to fight any disease. To do that we should ensure that we should eat right. Too much or too less of any nutrient will adversely affect our body

SEPARATION OF SUBSTANCES  BLOG 8   Let's begin with a video clipping today to re in force  what we do know about  Solutes and Solvent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-2EoyDYamg a) Solvent: It is a substance that dissolves a  solute  to form a solution.  b)  Solute -A solute is any substance which is dissolved in water. Water is also known as the UNIVERSAL SOLVENT. WHY?  Because it can dissolve almost everything into it. Therefore, Solute + Solvent ⇨ Solution https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXdbwMc4d0M ⇨   Click on the link below that explains why WATER is often called A UNIVERSAL SOLVENT.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXdbwMc4d0M Can you identify the solvent and solute in the following solutions: (Orally) Salt, water, Coke, Chocolate milk,  The gif below shows a  Purple  crystalline substance - Potassium per manganate dissolving in water.     T T .......................

GOOD MORNING!!!      .  I  am given a  MIXTURE containing BOTH SAND  + SALT  and have been asked  to separate the two.   WHAT SHOULD I DO ?  . I am a  bit confused...  Sieving won' t work.. NOR will Hand picking. Wait a minute. I KNOW that   salt is SOLUBLE in water .  Using this property of solubility   I think I know what can be done.  This is What  I WILL do.  I WILL... ( READ ON) .        Take a beaker, add some water to the mixture of sand and salt  We now have a mixture that contains water + sand + salt  I now want to separate this mixture.    WHAT NEXT ???   I  know that salt is soluble in water but sand isn't.  Take a glass rod and stir the mixture.  The salt dissolves on stirring and the salt is no longer visible.  Filter the solution.  Sand remains on the filter paper as the RESIDUE and SALT SOLUTION is the FILTRATE  IF the salt solution is  heated, water will EVAPORATE leaving SALT behind. Thus a mixture of  WATER + S
