 Let's begin with a video clipping today to re in force  what we do know about  Solutes and Solvent.


a) Solvent:
It is a substance that dissolves a solute to form a solution. 
b)  Solute -A solute is any substance which is dissolved in water.

Water is also known as the UNIVERSAL SOLVENT. WHY?
 Because it can dissolve almost everything into it.
Therefore, Solute + Solvent ⇨ Solution

 ques) Define:
1. Soluble: The solid  substance which dissolves  in water or any other solvent E.g. Sugar, Salt, soap, jaggery ( GUD )
  2) Solvent : The liquid which dissolves the solid substance ( solute ) is termed the solvent.
3) Insoluble substance: The substances which do not dissolve in water are said to be insoluble in water.E.g. Chalk, sand, etc.

4 ) Soluble substance  : A substance  which dissolves in a liquid / solvent is said to be soluble in that solvent.

5) Miscible Liquids: When two liquids dissolve in each other they are said to be miscible.
E.g. Alcohol in Water.

 6) Immiscible Liquids: When two liquids do not dissolve in each other they are said to be immiscible . eg oil and water, petrol and water, diesel  and water, kerosene oil  and water.
