Q 10) What is Roughage ? WHY must Roughage be included in the Diet ?


Ans.)The fibre  (indigestible ) component in our diet is termed Roughage. It  is  basically cellulose. ( the cell wall of Plant cells). ROUGHAGE has NO NUTRIENT value but must be included in the diet for the following reasons.

 i)Roughage helps in regular bowel   movement. (it prevents constipation )

ii) It adds bulk  to the Food.

iii) It helps to retain water.

A)  Gourds, Spinach ( palak ) papaya .

Q 12) What role does water play in the working of the human body ?

    Water helps to regulate body temperature
    It goes to form blood and many other body fluids.It keeps the tissues and organs moist.
    Water is needed for various bio chemical reactions that take place in the body.
    Water is lost in the form of urine, sweat, tears and even in the air we breathe out. This water needs to be replaced.
