food( post 4)
Welcome back, let's continue with our lesson - sources of food
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
We will look at a few food items
Honey

Watch the following link on bees: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0248uQf_ao
Honey is produced by honeybees from the nectar of flowers. It is rich in sugar, minerals and enzymes
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Beverages
Any drink other than water is called a beverage
Tea, coffee, and cocoa are some of the beverages people enjoy

tea leaves coffee beans roasting cocoa-beans
(where chocolate comes from)
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Milk
Food items made from milk are called dairy products
Eg. Ice-cream, paneer, cheese, butter, ghee, kulfi, curd

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Fish
Fish and sea-food are rich in protein and iodine

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Food consumed by humans and animals
Animals and humans cannot produce their own food and are dependent on plants or other animals. Hence they are called heterotrophs. (The word hetero means others and the word trophs means food/nutrition)

Heterotrophs can be classified into:
Human beings consume food materials from both plants and animals
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Even though heterotophs do not produce their own food, it is still not an easy job obtaining food. Watch this cheetah get a meal : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ptpb51UquOo
After having viewed the cheeta video, in the comments tell me which organism (living thing) is the autotroph, the herbivore and the carnivore?

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Identify the following scavengers:

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Food Chain
When you think of the word chain, what comes to mind? Do you think of the chain on your cycle, or the chain your mother wears.
A chain is basically a link
A link that connects living organisms wherein one organism is food for the next is called a food chain.
All food chains begin with plants.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Food Web
What does the word web remind you of? A spider's web? The internet?
Inter-connected food chains form a food-web

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
What are you having for lunch today? Think of the food web involved in the food on your plate

Heterotrophs can be classified into:
- Herbivores - eat only plants / plant products
- Carnivores - eat only flesh/meat
