A lovely poster on importance of nutrition and balanced meal in ...

Good Day to you !

In the previous class  we studied about various minerals and how a deficiency of these could result in various deficiency diseases.

We are fortunate that we have sufficient  food. There are millions of children world wide who do not get sufficient  food and whose diet   is deficient in  nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

On our school premises itself we have an organization – Pratyek  that works  for children, trying to ensure that no child remains hungry.  ZERO HUNGER.. . The organization also works for the rights of children trying to ensure that every child has access to basic school education.

I do hope you have had a proper breakfast… I can’t teach a hungry child.

During today 's class we will   recapitulate  about a balanced diet something which we are familiar with because we learnt about it in class  4  and  this was re in forced again  in class 5. We will  learn about two conditions  which are caused when a person does  not   consume a proper diet.

What is a Balanced Diet ?  I am pretty sure  all of us know what a balanced diet is and why it is so important that we have a  balanced diet.

Now one must  keep this in mind that a balanced diet depends on the sex, age and the occupation  of the person.
For instance if there are two men  both 40 years of age, one of them is a rickshaw puller and the other has a desk job then the one who is a rickshaw puller will require more calories and more energy  and Carbohydrates when compared to  the man who is working at his desk throughout the day.
