SORTING MATERIALS INTO GROUPS(POST -5 )

GOOD MORNING BOYS! 
In the last class you learnt about magnetic and nonmagnetic materials and about conductors and nonconductors of electricity.
A QUICK RECAP!( Answer in -YES/NO)
1. Is wood a magnetic material?
2. Can cooking utensils be made of plastic ?
3. Will a piece of iron get attraced by a magnet?

LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THIS CLASS-
By the end of this class you will be able to-
- group materials based on their similarities.
-list properties which form the basis of grouping.
- list the advantages of grouping.

Things you see around you may be similar in some ways. Things  which are similar in one or more ways can be grouped together. 

Some properties that form the basis of grouping are-
. shape     .colour   .size    .texture   . taste    .hardness
. physical state      . nature (living or nonliving ; natural or manmade)

Go to the kitchen in your house. Observe how your mother has placed (grouped) different utensils ? Can you think of a reason for her to do this ?

- if they had similarities in one or more way.

Grouping things with similar properties together is called classification.
Classification of things into groups-
-makes it easier to work with them.
-helps us to learn their properties.
